Welcome to the "Steppin and we're Married" page. We chose this page to put a spotlight on our married couples who take the Chiacgo Steppin Class together. Marriage is a beautifuI thing .We believe that married couples doing activities together strengthen their lmarriage but also keeps that love bond strong! I asked some of the couples to share their story with us, here's their stories;
Don & Miesha Sunderland
Chicago Steppin' is AWESOME for married couples! Don and I have done this together for two sessions. It has put life and excitement into our marriage. Before steppin' , we got into a routine of only doing events for our two children. We forgot about doing for "our" relationship. Chicago steppin' has given us something to do for "us" We look forward to it every week! We get to spend time together, leartn to dance, and be social. It's almost like dating again.

With our relationship as a married couple, a key to it's growth is spending quality time together. Often times we forget and our lives can go in different directions. You need something to bring the focus back.
We found that with the Chicago Steppin class. We have thoroughly enjoyed the classes. We will be enrolling for the third time in the class for fall 2007. We both have enjoyed the learning process, the workshops, and the stepper sets as we have entered the world of steppin'.
As with any relationship, communication is a very important aspect of steppin'. Th eman leads and the woman follows his rhythm. Do not get me wrong. For us, there were some trying times "communicating" in order to get the steppin concept down. However, we worked through it. We overcame discouragement and most of all we did not give up. Marc and his dedicated team of instructors are patient, encouraging, and never condescending with their instruction. The camraderie and the friendships we have cultivated with fellow classmates makes our steppin experiences even more special. We are always anxious to attend the steppin events and displaying our dancing moves!
We can not stop promoting Marc's steppin' class to any couple we know. my wife Cynthia and I highly recommend this class to anyone looking to have fun and a way to strengthen their relationship as a couple. Marc brings people together one step at a time. Remember! If you can count, you can step. Believe us!

Getting started in Marc's Chicago Steppin' class has been quite a journey for us. After quite a few years of marriage, we found ourselves participating in lots of seperate, individual pursuits. Working 9-5, plus quite a few of our extracurricular activities were also tending to keep us apart. Add to this the fact we have to manage getting our 4 year old daughter to and from,school, and aextracurricular events she participates in. After all that, there is not a whole lot of time left over. We were looking for something we could both participate in, as a means of spending additional time together and having fun. A short time later we stumbled upon Marc's beginning class (soul line dancing and beginning Chicago Steppin') at the Barnett Recreation Center. We went ahead and signed up. From the beginning, this stood out for us as unique in that we could share the time, learn, and participate together, and above all, have fun. This made it highly appealing for both of us. At first, class seemed very challenging, but slowly and gradually, we got to a point where we got more comfortable. There have been/ are many individual and joint challenges along the way, but we have really enjoyed the fun and social interaction that have resulted from taking the class. We would highly reccomend it to any couples who want to have a good time.

Marc ,We first met when we came to one of your Saturday workshops and the “Simply Orange” Steppers Set later that evening. From that evening we were determined to adjust our schedules to allow us the opportunity to enroll in your class. Rhythm comes naturally to us and we’ve always enjoyed dancing together but your class has been more for our marriage than we could have ever expected. With kids, careers, and family there are always things that come up and require our time and energy. Steppin is something that allows us to focus on us and with all the other priorities that marriage and parenthood require it’s been comforting & rewarding for us to have a safe, fun, and adult environment to socialize and learn the dance style in.
It has been said that Chicago stepping isn’t just a style of dance it’s a culture and we’ve learned that it is indeed a culture, and one that we’re proud to be a part of. From the first time we came into contact with you and your staff we felt like we were in the right place and that no matter how successful we were in our endeavor to become steppers we would at least have fun and make new friends. We’re happy to say we’ve done both. Your class environment was great for every one from the best dancers to the most challenged. We’ve recommended your class to every couple we know because we think our friends could benefit from the relationship that you have to develop and maintain in order to step. Our daughter is currently trying to juggle her extracurricular activities in order to make sure that she continues to learn during the After Step Program. The Father-Daughter step was a great culminating activity. So, not only do we enjoy stepping, our daughter enjoys it as well, and as soon as our boys get a little lighter on there feet and can walk and chew gum they’ll be steppin too. You and your staff have been a blessing to us, we thank you.
